Alongside the iPod Shuffle, Apple has also announced their 6th generation iPod Nano. From the picture above, it’s obvious that the buttons, or click wheels as Apple calls it, is not gone. Odd isn’t it. The Shuffle is getting its click wheels back, and yet the Nano is ditching it. But what’s gone, is replaced by a touchscreen panel. Obviously, you’ll be manoeuvring your new Nano with the touchscreen interface. This is obviously not an iOS interface, but merely a simple touch UI mod from the original Nano interface, to be ‘touch-friendly’.

“This is the biggest reinvention of the iPod nano since its debut in 2005, and we think users are going to love it,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Replacing the click wheel with our Multi-Touch interface has enabled us to shrink the iPod nano into an amazingly small design that is instantly wearable with its built-in clip.”

An obvious fact from the new form factor is that the Nano is now 46-percent smaller and 42-percent lighter. Hard volume buttons on the side and a clip on the back provide the minimal hardware accoutrements to that new multitouch display, while the new power plant will let you party for 24-hours straight.

affiliate marketing

A normal looking headphone, very innocent looking, but might get you killed. This is Panasonic’s latest noise cancelling headphone, RP-HC700. The retro-inspired cans will kill 95-percent of surrounding noise, and will ship them in black or white hues if you need some fashion sense while ignoring your girlfriend (or mum) whining. Other specs include 40mm drivers, a 10Hz to 30 kHz frequency range and 15 hours of noise cancelling with a single AAA battery. Well if you wish to kill some zerglings during the night, and can’t stand your mum whining you to get to sleep (or your girlfriend, for whatever reason), just throw in ¥20,000 ($237) next month and you’re set to go. Though, I must warn you that you might lose your life for ignoring them far too long. Whether it’s worth it or not, is up to you.

affiliate marketing

HP’s latest business-class netbook Mini 5103 may have been launched early this month, but barely a month later, it seemed to be getting an update from HP to join in the bandwagon of Intel’s latest Atom processor, the N550. A newly discovered support document on HP’s own site clearly lists the new dual-core Atom H550 processor to be soon tagging along the current lineup of Atom N445 and N475 options. Besides this discovery, CNET seemed to be rather confident to see a full refresh of HP’s consumer level netbooks next month.

They don’t make perfect products, but their products are always rather interesting to say the least, as Zotac is such a company that always strive to give the best product that your greens can get. They’re no Mac Mini when it comes to form factor, but their latest Zboxes do seem like a good contender to those like Shuttle, and Asus Eeebox.

All of the packages are loaded with some variation of Intel’s Celeron processors. The HD series (the NS21 and ND22) pack a Celeron 743 or SU2300 CULV (respectively), DDR3 RAM slots, a 2.5-inch hard drive slot, HDMI and DVI-I ports, along with NVIDIA’s Ion GPU. There’s also an ITX series, all sporting those same CPUs, a single PCI Express x16 slot, a handful of SATA / eSATA hookups, and HDMI, DVI-D, and VGA connections. All the systems have a slew of USB ports, the boxes can be mounted in four different positions (including on the back of a monitor), and though retail pricing hasn’t been announced, it looks like at least the ND22 should list for around $270.

Cycling has become an exotic sport for those high-income folks. You’ll wonder what’s wrong with the world, when some people fork out around one grand just for a bicycle. Just because the manufacturers throw in some words like Shimano, and carbon fibre, and people will go crazy in awe and drool over these bicycles. That’s pretty much enough reason for Garmin to heavily invest products in these bicycles, which will mostly go tarmac and off roads too, in places where your iPhone will quite impossibly get any reception (it can barely get any reception in the lift, what’s more in the jungle).

“Whether you’re on the road, in the mountains or around the city, Garmin’s touchscreen Edge 800 puts the most important information of your ride at your fingertips,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin’s vice president of worldwide sales. “Thanks to its simple mounting system, improved mapping and route-planning capabilities, and the GPS-based features that make wires and calibration obsolete, we can easily say that one Edge fits all.”

affiliate marketing

When you’re cycling in the jungle, and can’t get any reception for help when you face a grizzly bear, you can still fool around with this new touchscreen GPS navigator from Garmin. Their latest Edge GPS devices are like iPhone-wannabe, as the Edge-800 is equipped with a 2.6-inch color display, Garmin’s BaseCamp route planning system, and BirdsEye satellite imagery, with the “HotFix” GPS technology to quickly acquire and maintain a signal, and support for a wide range of heart rate monitors, cadence sensors, and other ANT+ devices, to name a few features. Crazy features I’d say, but expected when you’re marketing for a bicycle platform that may cost around a grand.

“At Garmin-Transitions, we’re going to be on the cutting edge of technology, in everything we do,” said Team Garmin sprinting sensation Tyler Farrar. “Edge 800 can track all of our performance data, and it also keeps things interesting on training rides because we can use it anywhere in the world to plan and follow new routes – on and off road – and always find our way back to the start.”

While the device won’t be available until this October (for $449 or $649 depending on the bundle), it’s already received a few early reviews that paint a pretty positive picture — DC Rainmaker has even go so far as to say that the device “rocks,” and that “it’s everything that most cyclists have been asking for.”

Few days ago we talked about Panasonic getting ready to throw some 3D camcorders at consumers? Well now you can get one and make your very own 3D home video! Here’s a video of Panasonic’s latest 3D camcorder.

The HDC-SDT750 3D mode is enabled by snapping on an included 3D conversion lens that splits the image in twain to be recorded as right and left images by the standard 1080p sensor. However, by splitting the screen, they do mean literally splitting it. That means each side will only be recording a max resolution of 960 x 1080, thus sadly you won’t be able to record your very own HD Piranha muvee at your backyard with your Arowana babies.

The sad thing about this 3D camcorder is that you can only link the HDMI to AVCHD-compatible Blu-ray players and laugh your ass off with your family. Other than that, there’s not much expansion besides the SD slot. For a massive $1,399 price, that sure is very limited.

HP TouchSmart has always been a drag for me. I remember the hu-ha that it made when the Windows Vista version came with 4GB and everyone said that it won’t lag like shit anymore, but what mess it made. Now the TouchSmart has been upgraded, with pure quad core power plant and Windows 7. Hopefully this combination will blow us out. The lovely HP TouchSmart has always been a joy to us, except for the lagging Vista OS that was so yesteryear.

LG may not be a name that you would think of when buying a notebook, but they do manufactures notebooks. Now they’re launching their latest netbook named X140. The spec of netbook has been raised slightly from previous generations, but I can safely say that all notebook manufacturers have identical netbook specs, as if it is controlled by Intel or an OEM-mainboard manufacturer. Somehow I suspect that Asus is the one making OEM reference model for netbooks’ mainboard. Anyway, back to topic.

LG’s latest X140 is a 10.1-inch netbook with LED baclight LCD monitor with 1366×768 resolution. It’s running on Windows 7 (a Starter version I presume), and the very typical Atom based 1.83GHz notebook (presumably Atom N470 processor with 512KB cache). The memory has been upped to 2GB of RAM (DDR2) from typical 1GB, and 320GB of 5,400rpm HDD as compared to the previous 250GB. There’s an optional 3G model as well. There’s also the 1.3Mp webcam.

Why am I adding the ‘LCD’ moniker behind? That’s because right now all manufacturers are marketing their displays as LED displays, but many innocent civilians does not understand that these are all marketing gimmicks. The LED displays are actually LCD with their backlight changed to LED instead of typical fluorescent backlight, which is very much different from true LED displays.

Available in 3 different colors including the good old back & white but also “Hot Pink”, the LG X140 features the company latest “LG Smart POP” connectivity features including File Transfer function enables the simple transfer of folders or files between the PC and mobile phones; Dial and Message functions let users make calls or send SMS direct from the netbook’s screen; while the Contacts and Outlook Sync functions automatically synchronize all contact information in mobile phones or outlook between a mobile phone and the LG X140. More pictures below for your viewing pleasure.
